Safeguarding Policy

Purpose
This policy outlines Spur Chicago’s commitment to safeguarding children, youth, and vulnerable adults in all programs, events, and services.
Scope
This policy applies to:
Staff, volunteers, board members
Contractors, partners, and visitors
Any individual engaging with Spur Chicago programs or facilities
Policy Statement
Zero tolerance for sexual abuse, molestation, harassment, or exploitation
All staff, volunteers, and contractors must complete background checks and training in safeguarding protocols
All incidents or suspicions must be reported immediately to leadership or through designated reporting channels
Prevention Measures
Mandatory orientation for all team members on appropriate conduct
Clear supervision ratios for youth programs
Safe use of photography, videography, and participant information
Reporting Procedures
Concerns can be reported:
Directly to leadership via info@spurchi.org or (708) 888-2074
In person to a program supervisor
Anonymously via our internal reporting process
Consequences for Violations
Violations of this policy may result in:
Removal from programs or facilities
Termination of employment or volunteer roles
Reporting to law enforcement as required by law
Policy Review
This policy will be reviewed annually and updated as needed to reflect best practices.
